Week 3

Little Red Hen Day:

Today we started with watercoloring.  We practiced transferring the brush through the right order: water, paint, then paper.  We did our morning routine, our question of the day was, "Do you have a pet?"  We also got to meet and name our new class pet!  We thought of a few names for the stuffed bunny: Treebunny, Liam, and Fluffy.  We ended up with the name Fluffy with a majority vote.  The kids will take turns taking Fluffy home and then sharing their weekend together.

We talked about being helpers and read the book The Little Red Hen.  I then asked, who will help me make our snack?  They all answered "I will!  I will!"  We then made banana muffins together and all enjoyed them!  While they were cooking we read The Little Green Witch, which is a halloween retelling of The Little Red Hen.

We also practiced writing the number 3 together on the whiteboard.  We did our songs, our worksheets and Little Red Hen coloring page.

 Super excited about the muffins!

Stella Luna Day:

We started the day with rainbow name tracing.  We practiced correctly holding pencils and tracing names.  Each kid traced five times with different colors.  We then did our morning routine.  Our question of the day was, "Is green your favorite color?"  Almost everyone said yes!  We are practicing keeping our own opinion and not worrying what everyone else chooses. I also introduced several of the toys we will use during centers that will start next week.  I also did the letter pretest during free play.  We read the book Stella Luna and talked about how we are all friends even though we are different.

We had apples from Eckert's farm and cheezits for snack.  The kids worked on their Stella Luna craft and followed directions very well.  We did our songs and another book about bat facts. It was another great week with these cute kiddos!

Playing duck, duck, goose!  So funny to teach this game to preschoolers--tons of enthusiasm and chaos.
