Today we talked about artists and different painting techniques. After circle time we did a tour of the house to look at all the different paintings. We found lots of oil paintings, some water colors, some quilts, and some pencil drawings. We talked about about what kind of paint or tools each artist used. Then we watched a slideshow of famous paintings. We ended with Van Gogh's Sunflower painting. We looked at the colors and the feelings we got from looking at it. The kids did an abstract watercolor technique where they had to draw a continuous line that crossed itself and ended where it began. Then they filled in the spaces they created. Then we worked on our new letter of the day and finished with creating a Sunflower painting that copied Van Gogh's style.
Thursday: Easter Party
We started by having circle time, then I told the story of Mary waiting outside of Jesus's tomb. Then we hopped over carrots labeled 1-15 with the kids shouting the numbers with each jump. Then they put the carrots away on a chart with the matching numbers. Then they decorated bags for an easter hunt! We had carrots and dip for snack. We made rice crispy egg nests. Then we had our easter egg hunt the kids found 7 each!! It was such a fun day!
