Week 27

Tuesday:  Today was the last day of weather studies.  We started by deciding what animals would like to live in the snow and and which would not.  We had a great discussion about why animals are a good fit for snowy weather like their color and fur or fat level.  We also made snowflakes.  This turned out to be frustrating as it was hard for them to make the scissors work.  Everyone talked through why it was frustrating and we made them anyways just at a slower pace.  I was impressed that the kids were able to work through the problems with the activity!  We did little letter r.

Thursday:

Today we started a new unit on Imagination!  We will be doing lots of art projects and lots of pretend exercises. We started by reviewing the most recent letters and connecting the uppercase with lowercase partners.  We did two new songs one where the kids pretend to be penguins and one where we pretend to be fruit!  We also made pet snakes and took them for a walk.  I also gave the kids a drawing prompt of a lonely owl.  The kids needed to create a cozy environment for their owls with lots of detail.  We talked about what details were and possibilities for their owls.  I love seeing their ideas spring out in creative moments.
