Today we played a game of what am I thinking of to review being thankful for our bodies and our families. My favorite was stumping them by asking, "It's a part of your body that you can cut and it doesn't hurt!" No one could guess but they all had big surprised reactions. We also talked about what animals live in different parts of the world. We talked about rain forests, deserts, and oceans and why different kids on animals live in these places. We also played an animal guessing game where I played a soundbite of different animal noises and they had to guess what it was. We also have been working hard on our letter sounds. Many of the kids recognize each letter, the next step is to perfect writing it correctly, and then memorizing the sounds each letter makes. We sing, "the e says Eh" to the toon of Old MacDonald.
Thur: I am thankful for good foods
Today we talked about the difference between sometimes foods and all the time foods. I had some plastic and paper examples of food for the kids to feed to a poster guy named Fed Fred. We fed him all kinds of foods. The kids were able to identify which food we should eat every day and if they were vegetable, fruit, or carbs. They all knew that too much of a sometime food could give you a tummy ache. We also listened to the "Very Hungry Caterpillar" and noticed what kinds of foods he was eating. We also made fall trees to celebrate the season.
We also celebrated Tait's birthday today! He brought in fruit snacks to share, and he got a birthday crown to wear! Everyone was so excited. I put a candle in a cookie and we all sang happy birthday to him. The kids all signed a card for him to take home--it was great name practice! We also had a just for fun bowling game to celebrate.
