We started the day by playing playdough until all our friends arrived. Then we headed to circle time where the students buzzed their busy bees to the beehive while we practiced our welcome song. We learned the Days of the Week song, Months of the year song, and checked outside to study the weather.
Then we read: Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see? The students picked out their favorite animals and we read it again so they could notice and say their favorites as we read.
We enjoyed snack and free play then came back upstairs to create busy bee hats!
After that we finger painted brown bears, with chocolate pudding. It was a good way for the kids to find out that it is okay to get messy at preschool. Those pictures will go home on Thursday.
We ended preschool with our songs. I love Laurie Berkner and we use several of her songs every day. Rocketship Run, The Goldfish Song, and We are the Dinosaurs. The kids did a great job learning the movements for each of the songs.
Everyone did such a great job listening to directions and transitioning from each activity. I can't wait to see everyone again on Thursday! I am not a great photographer and it was super bright outside but here are some pictures of the first day!
