Week 24

Tue: I can be honest

Today we started the day with spin art!  The kids loved both waiting for and taking their turn.  We studied lower letter N.  Today was also our last day on of our unit on honesty.  We read "The Little Dish" about a girl who sees a dollhouse toy at her friend's house and takes it home with her.  It does a great job illustrating how something may seem tempting to take, but it will weigh you down with guilt.  We talked through what the little girl could have done besides taking it.  The kids suggested saving up for her own, asking to borrow it, or making one.  We did a matching worksheet, the kids are getting better and better at following directions for these worksheets.  It is great prep for kindergarten!  We finished by turning our spin are into beautiful butterflies!

Thur: I can be courageous

The letter of the day was the letter O.  We talked about how no one is the same, everyone has things that make them unique.  We read two books, "I Love Me" and "I like Myself".  Both books talk about how we can have fun by ourselves, and be happy to be unique.  We looked at our thumbprints under a microscope and saw all the different swirls.  Then we made fingerprint fish to take home.
