Tuesday: Our gathering activity was "brain chips". These are great for fine motor development. We then did our usual morning routine. For President's Day and our unit on honesty we talked about George Washington. We read several books detailing his life. The age appropriate details I hope the kids remember are that he was honest, and he was the first president. At snack we had cheerios and grapes while making a treat for the birds in our neighborhoods. We studied letter N and finished with a George Washington craft.
Thursday: We gathered with the shape blocks. The kids enjoy either following a pattern of free playing with them. We read the very busy spider today. We talked about how he had to work hard and not get distracted. we made little spiders and spider webs together. These were both challenging activities. We also went on a spider hunt. I hid spiders with the numbers 1-15 on them and the kids found them all and we put them in order. The kids got a lot of practice saying their numbers in order. Our goal is for everyone to be able to count 1-20 or 1-50.
