Tuesday: We are singing some new Chrstimas songs during our morning circle time. We sang "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" with hand motions, and two songs with hand bells, "Jingle Bells" and "Jingle goes the Pretty Bells". The kids are really enjoying these songs! Our letter of the day was uppercase G. We also talked about the Nativity at circle time. I got out our "Little People" nativity set and we set out each character and I explained a little about each of them. I also asked the kids what they would have brought to Jesus if they had visited him in Bethlehem. The kids said, "toys, diapers, and storm trooper toys". We also counted to ten singing "One little, two little, three little lights...etc." We frosted christmas trees and added decorations for snack. After snack we put on a nativity play and each kid had a different role and got to visit and hold baby Jesus. It was so fun! I let the kids free play with this a little and it was fun to see how they wanted to role play the nativity.
Thursday: We practiced all our christmas songs during circle time. The lesson today was about the symbols of christmas. I had pictures for each symbol and I read this poem while the kids looked at the pictures. We will repeat this next week, it is one of my favorite Chrstimas lessons!
Symbols of Christmas
Christmas time is
full of fun, so much to see and hear;
Many things remind us
why we celebrate each year.
Santa Claus leaves
presents underneath the tree.
He wants us to
remember to give unselfishly.
Christmas Wreaths are
circles; a circle never ends;
It helps us to
remember love for family and friends.
A Candy cane, a shepherd’s
crook that’s painted red and white
Reminds us shepherd’s
visited the manger on that night
Christmas bells are
ringing. I hear the tinkling sound;
Lost little sheep who
wear them, are loved when they are found.
When we sing
Christmas carols they remind us of His Birth;
Like Angels sang that
Holy Night when Jesus came to Earth.
When Jesus Christ was
born, Wise men traveled from afar;
Guided to the Infant
King by the bright Christmas Star.
A Gift is what we
give and get at Christmas time each year;
Jesus was the
greatest gift that God sent to us here.
It was also baby Glori's birthday! We had cupcakes to share and the kids were all so nice to her! They do a great job being patient and kind with her even though she is so much younger. The kids also did a shape review page--everyone nailed it! We ended with a Nativity scene coloring page. What a fun day!
