Week 31

Tuesday:
Today we talked about Owney the Mail dog.  This is not a fairy tale, but a neat story of a dog who worked with postmen and traveled on trains in the late 1800s.  Here is a picture of owney stuffed.  He is also featured at the transportation museum.  We wrote letters to Owney and learned all about his travels.  We also played mailman and delivered "letters" to uppercase letters t,u,v,w,x,y,z.  We also celebrated Ruby's birthday!

Thursday:
Today we talked all about Humpty Dumpty.  I asked each kid what they thought he was doing up on that wall in the first day.  Some answers:  He was being naughty on purpose, I bet his mom said no.  He wanted to read a book up there, and he was excited to meet a king.  We built a lego wall and dropped  a real egg off the top while saying the nursery rhyme.  We put eggs in salt water and regular water and we predicted whether they would float or sink.  The kids split into groups of two and built a wall for an easter egg.  We practiced the rhyme and has humpty dumpty fall.  We did a before and after picture of humpty dumpty.  Last we did a puzzle, which was challenging, but I encouraged the kids to keep working hard to figure it out and they did!  We then put him back together with bandaids.
